Phenolphthalein 1% Solution is a colourless liquid, which is used to test liquid or cream soap for excess lye. It will turn pink or fuchsia in the presence of excess of lye. It’s the degree of pink that determines how alkaline your soap is. If a drop applied to the middle of a soap cutting turns deep pink or fuchsia then the soap should not be used on the skin; this soap however would be great for the house and or laundry. If the drop stays clear or turns just the lightest shade of transparent pink then your soap should be fine.
Phenolphthalein 1% Solution est un liquide incolore, qui est utilisé pour tester le savon liquide ou crème pour l’excès de lessive. Il deviendra rose ou fuchsia en présence d’excès de lessive. C’est le degré de rose qui détermine comment alcalin votre savon est. Si une goutte appliquée au milieu d’une coupe de savon devient rose profond ou fuchsia alors le savon ne doit pas être utilisé sur la peau; ce savon serait cependant idéal pour la maison et ou la lessive. Si la goutte reste claire ou tourne juste l’ombre la plus légère de rose transparent, puis votre savon devrait être très bien.

I’m giving this only 4 stars because it would be very convenient if it came in bottle with an eye dropper for easy use. I transferred mine to an empty stevia bottle that had an eye dropper.
