Antioxidants & Preservatives

Any product manufactured without an ingredient to prevent and control microbial growth, will start to go off and may even start growing potentially pathogenic organisms. Preservatives are added to cosmetics to prevent the growth of microorganisms (eg, bacteria and fungi), which can spoil the product and possibly harm the user.

To control microbial growth and to stabilize any cosmetic product, some form of preservative needs to be used. If you are looking to sell the products you make, you must use a preservative!

To maximize the shelf life of your products make sure the area and utensils are clean and sterile. Run your utensils through the dishwasher a couple of times before using.
