Cream Soap Recipe for Exfoliating and Additives

When it comes to creating the ideal medium-density soft soap formula suitable for incorporating exfoliants and diverse additives, our Basic Cream Soap Formula stands out as the perfect choice.

Ingredients (by weight):

– 4.6 oz. premium sweet almond oil
– 6 oz. high-quality coconut oil
– 4 oz. sustainable palm oil
– 2 oz. stearic acid

Lye Mixture (by weight):

– 2.4 oz. Potassium hydroxide (KOH)
– 0.7 oz. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH)

Distilled Water (by weight): 20 oz.

Additional Ingredient:

– 1 oz.  liquid glycerin USP

Instructions:

1. Begin by melting the harder oils and butter until they reach a perfectly fluid state.
2. Combine the glycerin and distilled water, then gently sprinkle the lye over the liquid surface. Ensure meticulous mixing to facilitate complete and thorough lye dissolution.
3. Incorporate the selected oils into the lye water mixture. It’s noteworthy that cream soaps benefit immensely from warmer processing temperatures (around 140°F or higher), a marked departure from traditional cold process soaps.
4. At this pivotal stage, you might observe a unique curdled appearance in the mixture. This intriguing phenomenon is attributed to the neutralization process of stearic acid by the lye.
5. Utilize a stick blender to blend the mixture for precisely timed 1-2 minute intervals, allowing the blender to rest for 2-3 minutes before resuming. The comprehensive blending process may take an estimated 5-10 minutes until a visually pleasing homogenous consistency is achieved.
6. Approximately halfway through the blending phase, thoughtfully incorporate any carefully chosen essential oils.
7. Adequate and comprehensive blending is of paramount importance to skillfully prevent undesirable separation. Over time, you’ll naturally develop an astute instinct for achieving the desirable “trace” with these meticulously curated ingredients. In the interim, for your whipped cream soap, it’s imperative to note that trace should be notably thicker when contrasted with the texture of regular cold-process soap. Additionally, an unmistakable shift towards a creamier texture becomes evident as the soap masterfully reaches the trace phase.
8. Once your soap masterfully achieves the trace stage, gracefully pour it into cleaned, wide-mouth jars or tubes that have been prepared and sterilized in advance.
9. Exercise patience as you allow the crafted soap to sit undisturbed for approximately 7-10 days, eagerly anticipating its imminent use.
10. It’s of utmost significance not to overlook the vital pH testing step, a crucial aspect of ensuring quality. Ideally, the pH level should confidently fall within the optimal range of 8-9, reflecting the excellence of your crafting endeavor.

Embark on a delightful journey of crafting your very own cream soap, thoughtfully formulated not only for exquisite exfoliating treatments and a range of carefully chosen additives but also tailored to encapsulate your unique preferences. Immerse yourself in the luxurious creaminess, all while relishing the distinctive touch of personalization that enriches each and every use.
