Star anise, star aniseed or Chinese star anise, is a spice that closely resembles aniseed in flavour, obtained from the star-shaped pericarp of Illicium verum, a small native evergreen tree of southwest China. The star shaped fruits are harvested before they ripen, and are then sun dried. It is widely used in Chinese, Indian and Indonesian cuisines. Anise is widely grown for commercial use in China, India, and most other countries in Asia. Star anise is an ingredient of the traditional five-spice powder of Chinese cooking. It is also one of the ingredients used to make the broth for the Vietnamese noodle soup called phô. It is used as a spice in preperation of Biryani in Andhrapradesh a south Indian State.

Description: A small to medium evergreen tree of the magnolia family.The fruits are harvested before they ripen, then sun dried. It is, as the name suggests, star shaped, radiating between five and ten pointed boat-shaped sections, about eight on average. Tough skinned and rust coloured, they measure up to 3 cm long.

Common Uses: Anise Star Essential Oil has carminative, stomachic, stimulant and diuretic properties. In the East it is used to combat colic and rheumatism.

L’anis étoilé, l’anis étoilé ou l’anis étoilé chinois, est une épice qui ressemble beaucoup à l’anis dans la saveur, obtenue à partir du pericarp en forme d’étoile de l’illicium verum, un petit arbre indigène à feuilles persistantes du sud-ouest de la Chine. Les fruits en forme d’étoile sont récoltés avant qu’ils mûrissent, puis sont séchés au soleil. Il est largement utilisé dans les cuisines chinoises, indiennes et indonésiennes. L’anis est largement cultivée pour un usage commercial en Chine, en Inde et dans la plupart des autres pays d’Asie. L’anis étoilé est un ingrédient de la poudre traditionnelle de cinq épices de la cuisine chinoise. C’est aussi l’un des ingrédients utilisés pour faire le bouillon de la soupe de nouilles vietnamienne appelée phô. Il est utilisé comme une épice dans la prépétation de Biryani dans Andhrapradesh un État du sud de l’Inde.

Description: Un petit à moyen arbre à feuilles persistantes de la famille magnolia. Les fruits sont récoltés avant de mûrir, puis séchés au soleil. Il est, comme son nom l’indique, en forme d’étoile, rayonnant entre cinq et dix sections pointues en forme de bateau, environ huit en moyenne. Peau dure et couleur rouille, ils mesurent jusqu’à 3 cm de long.

Couleur : Liquide sans couleur au jaune pâle.

Utilisations courantes : L’huile essentielle d’étoile d’anise a des propriétés carminatives, gastriques, stimulantes et diurétiques. En Orient, il est utilisé pour lutter contre les coliques et les rhumatismes.

    This oil will make your mouth water and you will crave black licorice!!! It is great in cold process soap. I had no acceleration but I coloured the soap black so I can’t comment on discolouration. A real hit with my kids!

    So far, my favourite! Made soaps for my daughter’s wedding and I used this EO in my Fisherman’s CP soap. It did not cause any acceleration or discolouration and the scent is absolutely amazing! I’d absolutely recommend this for CP soaps!

    best tigers eye soap , remember that orange and black Ice-cream , this scent makes it perfect
    The licorice scent is amazing not overpowering and its has good staying power even in cold process soap.
