Emulsifying Wax simplifies the formulation of oil-in-water emulsions. They produce stable emulsions and contribute to conditioning properties.
Emulsifying Wax (Vegetable Based) NF is one of the fundamental ingredients used in lotion and cream formulations. Emulsifying wax binds the oil and water in a cream or lotion together to form a smooth emulsion. An excellent example is salad dressing. Salad dressing when it’s left to settle will separate requiring a shake to emulsify it again. It can be used to make viscous (thick) or thin emulsions, depending upon the concentration at which it is used.
Melt the wax with your other fats and waxes and then slowly add your water phase while continuously stirring. The key to forming a stable emulsion is to keep the formulation in motion until it cools completely.
Whenever a switch is made from one brand of Emulsifying Wax NF to another, it is important to conduct tests to determine if there will be changes to your formula that might require an adjustment of the percentages used.

Recommended Use Rate: 2-25%, usually 3-5% for lotions and 5-10% for creams.

Emulsifiant cire (à base de légumes) NF est l’un des ingrédients fondamentaux utilisés dans les formulations de lotion et de crème. La cire émulsifiante lie l’huile et l’eau dans une crème ou une lotion ensemble pour former une émulsion lisse. Un excellent exemple est la vinaigrette. La vinaigrette quand il est laissé à régler se séparera exigeant une secousse pour l’émulsionner à nouveau. Il peut être utilisé pour faire des émulsions visqueuses (épaisses) ou minces, selon la concentration à laquelle il est utilisé.
Faire fondre la cire avec vos autres graisses et cires, puis ajouter lentement votre phase d’eau tout en remuant continuellement. La clé pour former une émulsion stable est de maintenir la formulation en mouvement jusqu’à ce qu’elle refroidisse complètement.
Chaque fois qu’un commutateur est effectué à partir d’une marque de NF de cire émulsifiant à une autre, il est important d’effectuer des tests pour déterminer s’il y aura des changements à votre formule qui pourraient nécessiter un ajustement des pourcentages utilisés.

Trying to create a lightweight non-greasy lotion has been a challenge. I have tried many methods and many ingredients. Separation and emulsification continued to be the dilemma. I ordered the Emulsifying Wax NF and crossed my fingers. I was so excited to see they emulsification process work like a charm. My lotion was creamy, lightweight and left my skin silky and smooth!!
