The American gambling group Caesars published an update on the planned casino project in Virginia a few days ago. According to this, the construction of the pompous casino resort is to begin as early as December this year. The project will cost approximately $ 500 million. But when can an opening be expected?
It wasn't until the beginning of this year that we reported that Caesars Entertainment had to sell three casinos in the US state of Indiana . The background was a possible monopoly of Caesars after the Eldorado merger. But as has now become known, the gambling company is already planning the next gigantic casino project - this time in the US state of Virginia.
The opening is planned for the end of 2023
At the current time, the Marnell Companies architectural office assumes that the opening of the new luxurious casino resort can take place at the end of 2023. The impressive project was made possible by a vote that took place in Danville in November 2020. The majority of the voters here spoke out in favor of the project.
The casino giant then tried to put the plans into practice as quickly as possible. Initially, it was calculated with costs of around 400 million US dollars. In the course of the planning phase, however, these have increased to approximately 500 million US dollars.
Caesars Entertainment is a publicly traded company that operates hotels, best mobile casinos und 31,000 people and most recently generated sales of around 3.87 billion US dollars. It was only at the end of September 2020 that it became known that Caesars wanted to take over William Hill, one of the world's largest betting providers, for around 2.9 billion pounds.
Pompous casino resort with 500 hotel rooms
Plans include a modern casino floor with an integrated Caesars betting office and an extravagant poker room. In addition, the casino resort in the US state of Virginia will have a total of 500 hotel rooms in which guests can spend the night. In addition to the hundreds of slot machines, table and card games, there will also be a gigantic spa area with a fitness studio as well as several restaurants and bars.

Hundreds of jobs are to be created through the construction and subsequent operation of the casino. It is currently estimated that 900 workers will be needed to build the casino resort over a period of two years. According to the latest press release, construction should start this December. After completion at the end of 2023, around 1,200 new jobs could be created in Caesars Virginia - from receptionists to cooks and croupiers at the blackjack table.
The management of Caesars Entertainment is optimistic and sees the project as an opportunity for the region. The CEO and COO Anthony Carano said specifically:
"Caesars Virginia will be an economic driver for the region, both as an attraction for tourists and entertainment and as a base for more than 1,000 new well-paid jobs that the resort will create (...)".
